I found a few problems like mine in the community forms, but no real solution was found. Intermittently when printing an envelope from Word 365 half of the first address line is missing about 2/3s the way across. I don't always have the problem, but once is starts happening succeeding envelopes have the same problem. If I just leave it for a few hours or the next day they will print fine for while and then it starts again. I tried adding a blank line in front of the address but it dosent always work. I then added a hyphen character on the first line and  it may or may not print but the actual address below prints fine. Its a bypass for me for now and the hyphen is barely noticeable,  Of course it would be better to not have the problem at all. Could this actually be an OfficeJet 8710 hardware or printhead problem. I ran the alignment and clean printhead tools bit didnt fix. I only see this problem on envelopes. 8.5x11 prints ok.

Thanks Lanny

@Lannyrtaylor, Welcome to HP Support Community!

This is not a hardware issue, it could be more of an application or driver-related issue. Let us try to isolate and resolve the issue-

Try updating the computer -

Windows Updates

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Also, check for Word 365 updates if any.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Try printing.

If you still have issues, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add a printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
