I have a CP3505 and it prints its reports in colour but rarely my photos! I solved it. In the Windows registry there's more than one CP3505 showing under Printers. Just type 'regedit' into your command line and delete all references to your troublesome printer. Now, go into Settings and Add Printer. This will create a single ID for your HP orinter and the colours will return!

Often it only requires you to change the device type on the driver to colour. You find this on the device settings tab of printer properties.
