I replaced a Cyan ink cartridge in my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. During the installation process the printer finished with a short squealing sound. I thought the ink cartridge may not have been seated properly and removed it for inspection. After placing it back in the printer went through the inkjet installation process, received the following error message: "There is a problem with this printer or ink. Turn printer off, then on. If the problem persists, contact HP. Repeated attempts have resulted in same error message.  Not sure if the printer is interpreting the Cyan ink cartridge as used after removing, inspecting and reinstalling.

It seems like you're facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer after replacing the Cyan ink cartridge. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the power outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the Cyan ink cartridge is properly installed. Make sure it clicks into place securely.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove the Cyan ink cartridge.
  • Check for any dirt or ink on the cartridge contacts and on the contacts inside the printer.
  • Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the Cyan ink cartridge.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Reconnect the power cord.
  • Turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. If yes, update the firmware following the instructions provided.

Check for Ink System Issues:

  • Run an ink system diagnostic test from the printer control panel. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
