I have a HP Smart Tank 7000.

It has full ink in each tank. All colors print fine except for black. Anything with black will not print. I've tried to run the clean printhead function multiple times; however, it still won't print black.
The printhead is not showing any errors. HP smart is not showing any errors and when I open the printed to check the printhead with HP it doesn’t move into the middle (so according to Hp- there is no issue with the printhead.
Any help would be much appreciated

How do I replace or how do I get it to move to the center so that I can manually clean it?

Thank you!

Hi @Anna881,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 7000 is experiencing an issue where black ink isn't printing, even though the tank is full and there are no error messages. Here’s what you can try to fix the issue.

Step 1: Check Ink Flow & Priming

  • Open the ink tank cover and check if ink is flowing properly from the tank to the printhead.
  • If the ink seems blocked, try a printhead priming cycle through HP Smart:
  • Open HP Smart App > Printer Settings > Maintain Printer > Prime the Printhead.

Step 2: Run a Printhead Alignment

  • Go to Printer Settings on the control panel.
  • Select Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
  • Print the alignment page and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Perform a Hard Reset & Firmware update
Please remove the Cartridges from the Printer if possible, and try a Hard Reset. Do keep us posted to help you better

** Hard reset :
1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

HP Smart App: Please uninstall the HP Smart app --> restart the Device, Wi-Fi router and printer --> install it back and add the printer.

Firmware Update: Please update the Firmware from the link. This will help on how to update the firmware on the printer or devices.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
