Hi @vkinser

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 7602 is still printing slowly despite cleaning the print heads and aligning the printer, there are a few other things you can check to resolve the issue:

1. Check the Print Quality Settings

Sometimes, print quality settings are set to High Quality by default, which can slow down the printing process.

  • Change Print Quality Settings:
    • Open the Print Settings dialog on your computer.Look for the Quality or Print Quality option.Change it from High to Normal or Draft.

This should speed up printing if the quality setting was the issue.

2. Ensure Sufficient Ink Levels

If the ink levels are low, the printer may slow down printing. Check the ink levels and replace any low or empty ink cartridges.

  • Check Ink Levels in HP Smart or on the printer’s display.
  • If the ink levels are low, try replacing the ink tank.

3. Update Printer Drivers and Firmware

Outdated drivers or firmware can sometimes cause issues with print speeds.

  • Update Printer Drivers:
    • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model to download the latest drivers.Install the updated drivers on your computer.
  • Update Printer Firmware:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel.Navigate to the Settings menu and select Check for Updates to ensure the printer is running the latest firmware.

4. Use the Correct Print Mode

Some printers have a special Eco Mode or Draft Mode, which helps to speed up printing while sacrificing some print quality. You may want to enable these modes if you don’t need top-notch quality.

Eco Mode: This reduces ink usage and speeds up printing, but can affect the quality of the prints.

Draft Mode: This reduces print quality, but significantly increases printing speed.

5. Check the Printer Queue

Sometimes, if a print job is stuck in the queue or there are multiple jobs waiting, it can slow down the printing process.

  • Clear the Print Queue:
    • Open the Printers & Scanners settings on your computer.Locate your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer.
    • Clear any jobs that are stuck in the print queue.

6. Try Printing in Small Batches

If you're printing a large document or multiple pages, try printing a smaller portion of the document at a time. This can help identify whether the issue is related to large print jobs.

7. Check for Network Issues (if using wireless printing)

If you’re printing wirelessly, a slow connection could cause delays in printing. Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

  • Move the Printer Closer to the Router: If possible, move the printer closer to the router to improve the wireless signal.
  • Check Wi-Fi Speed: Make sure your Wi-Fi network is stable and has sufficient speed for printing.

8. Perform a Printer Reset

Sometimes, a full reset of the printer can clear any lingering issues:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.Wait for about a minute and then plug it back in.
  • Turn the printer on again and test printing speed.

I hope this helps.
