Hi @Smh25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer is not printing in color when connected to a MacBook Pro and doesn't give you the option to choose color or black-and-white printing, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Check Printer Preferences:

  • Go to "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Click "Printers & Scanners."
  • Select your HP Smart Tank 6000 series printer from the list.
  • Click "Options & Supplies" and then go to the "Options" tab to ensure color printing is enabled.

Adjust Print Settings:

  • When printing a document, go to "File" > "Print" in the application you are using.
  • Click "Show Details" in the print dialog box if available.
  • Look for the "Color Options" or "Quality" tab.
  • Ensure that "Color" is selected rather than "Black & White" or "Grayscale."

Check Application Settings:

  • Ensure that the settings within the app you're using to print aren't overriding printer settings to print in grayscale or black and white.

Reset the Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or control-click) in the printers list and select "Reset printing system."
  • Confirm the reset, and then re-add your printer.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Ensure you have the latest HP printer software and drivers installed on your Mac.
  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and search for your printer model to download any available updates.

Verify Ink Levels:

  • Check that the color ink levels are adequate. Low ink levels can affect color printing.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility, available on the HP website, to diagnose and troubleshoot printing problems.

Use HP App:

  • Download the HP app from the App Store for Mac, as it may offer more comprehensive settings and troubleshooting tools specific to color printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
