Hi @Judy408,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer. Let's tackle them one by one.

Missing Letters on the Right Side of the Page: This issue could be related to the printer's alignment or paper settings. Here's what you can try:

  • Check the paper size settings on both your printer and the document you're trying to print. Ensure they match (e.g., both set to Letter size - 8.5 x 11 inches).
  • Run a printer alignment test. Many printers have a built-in alignment feature that ensures the print heads are properly aligned. This can usually be found in the printer's settings menu.
  • Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are adjusted correctly to hold the paper securely in place.
  • Clean the printer heads. Sometimes, buildup or debris on the print heads can cause printing issues, including missing letters.

Printing Stops on Long Documents: If your printer is having trouble printing long documents, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot:

  • Check for paper jams. Even a small piece of torn paper can cause the printer to stop printing.
  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve performance issues.
  • Check the printer's memory. If the document you're trying to print is particularly large or complex, it might exceed the printer's available memory, causing it to stop printing. You can try printing the document in smaller sections or reducing the print quality to see if that helps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
