I just received a new HP 9120e printer and the ink cartridges that came with it are not locking into place. Has anyone experienced this and if so, how did you fix it?

@Linds0422, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing issues with your ink cartridges locking into place on your HP 9120e printer, here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure you are using the correct ink cartridges for the HP 9120e printer model. Incorrect or incompatible cartridges could be causing the issue.

Inspect Cartridge and Slot:

  • Examine both the cartridge and the slot where the cartridge is to be installed. Look for any obstructions, damaged parts, or packaging materials that could be preventing the cartridge from locking into place.

Installation Process:

  • Carefully follow the outlined steps to install the cartridges:
    1. Open the cartridge access door.
    2. Wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the printer to access the cartridge slots.
    3. Take the cartridge out of the packaging and remove the orange cap by twisting it forcefully.
    4. Ensure to match the color icons on the cartridge and the slot.
    5. Slide the cartridge into the slot until it clicks into place.
    6. Close the cartridge access door.

Restart Printer:

  • Sometimes, restarting the printer can help reset the mechanism. Shut down the printer, unplug it, and wait for one minute before plugging it back in and powering it on.

For more detailed instructions and visual guidance, you can refer to the user manual. Also, you can share the images of the unit so that we can understand the issue better
