It never happened before but I tried printing several times and every few lines are cut off horizontally throughout the whole page. I have updated everything and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor, cleaned the printer, unplugged and restarted the printer, and aligned the cartridges several times however you can still see the cut offs throughout the page and now I don't know what to do. I saw someone else had written a similar situation with a different printer and saw the suggestion nothing is working.

Hi @WooJung,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve already done a thorough round of troubleshooting, but there are a few more things to check that may help resolve the issue.
Check the Ink Levels
Even though you've aligned the cartridges, if ink levels are low, especially for black or any specific color, the printer might fail to print consistently. Double-check the ink levels to ensure they're sufficient.
Clean the Printhead (Deep Clean)
You can try a deep clean of the printhead. In the HP printer software, there should be an option for a "clean printhead" or "deep clean printhead." Perform this several times, as the regular cleaning may not be enough.
Steps:
- Open HP Smart or HP Solution Center.
- Select Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Choose Clean Printhead or Clean Cartridges.
Use Different Paper Settings
Sometimes paper type settings can affect print quality. If you are using regular paper, make sure the paper settings in the print dialog match the type of paper you are using. Set it to "Plain Paper" if it's not already.
Check Print Resolution Settings
In some cases, changing the print quality to a higher resolution (e.g., "Best" instead of "Normal") can reduce lines and improve clarity.
Steps:
- Open the Print Properties dialog before printing.
- Navigate to Quality Settings and choose Best.
Manually Align Cartridges (if Available)
Some models allow for manual cartridge alignment instead of relying on automatic settings. Check the user manual or software settings for an option to manually align the cartridges.
Try Printing in a Different Application
Sometimes the issue could be related to the software used to print. Try printing from a different program (like Word, Adobe Acrobat, or a web browser) to see if the problem persists.
Inspect the Cartridges Physically
Remove the cartridges and inspect them for any signs of damage or ink clogs. Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water. Ensure they are seated correctly when you reinstall them.

Firmware Update
You mentioned that everything is up to date, but double-check the firmware. Some updates may be specific to fixing print issues like the one you're facing.
Test Print Without HP Smart
If you’re using the HP Smart app, try printing directly via the system print function. Sometimes bypassing the app can reveal if the app itself is causing the issue.
Replace Cartridges
If nothing above works, consider trying new ink cartridges even if the current ones show enough ink. Sometimes faulty cartridges can lead to incomplete prints.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
