Hi @CMK34293 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet 8020 printer is not waking up or printing, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple step can often resolve minor issues.

Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to a power source. Check the power cable and make sure it is securely plugged in.

Printer Display:

  • Check the printer's display for any error messages or indicators that might help diagnose the issue.

Connection Issues:

  • Verify that the printer is connected to the computer or network properly. If it's a network printer, check the network connection.

Paper and Cartridges:

  • Ensure that there is paper in the paper tray and that the ink or toner cartridges have sufficient levels. Some printers may not operate if these supplies are low.

Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure that the printer drivers on your computer are up-to-date. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause printing issues.

Printer Queue:

  • Check the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. Clear any stuck or pending print jobs.

Printer Sleep Settings:

  • Check the printer's sleep settings. The printer may be set to go into sleep mode too quickly. Adjust the sleep settings as needed.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Inspect the printer for any physical issues such as paper jams, open covers, or any visible damage.

Reset the Printer:

  • If none of the above steps work, try resetting the printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
