Hi @Noni28

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It seems like your printer is encountering an issue related to HP Cartridge Protection. This feature is designed to prevent cartridges from being used in multiple printers, which might explain why your printer is showing that the black cartridge is blocked.

Since it's a brand-new cartridge, the issue might be related to HP's cartridge authentication system or a problem during installation.

Steps to Resolve the Issue with a New Cartridge:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Verify that the cartridge is compatible with your specific printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 9015). The packaging or product code should match your printer's specifications.

Ensure Proper Installation:

  • Open the printer and remove the cartridge.
  • Inspect the cartridge contacts (gold or copper pins) for any dust or debris. Clean them gently using a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the cartridge securely into the correct slot. Ensure you hear a "click" that confirms proper placement.

Disable Cartridge Protection:

  • On your printer's control panel or HP Smart app, check if Cartridge Protection is enabled. If it is, disable it:
    • Navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Cartridge Protection.
    • Turn the feature off and restart the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Outdated firmware can cause recognition issues with new cartridges. Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to download and install the latest firmware update.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes to clear residual charge.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on, then check if the cartridge error is resolved.

Test with Another Cartridge:

  • If you have another compatible cartridge (even used), try installing it temporarily to see if the error persists. This can help confirm if the new cartridge is faulty.

It sounds like you're almost there! Let me know how these steps work out or if you need help reaching out to HP. You’ve got this! 🌟
