Hello,
Have a black about 2 inch area of black on one side of page when scanning or printing on my HP Officeet Pro 8710 printer. I tried clean the rollers with distill water with a linkfree cloth but it still did not help.

Hi @eczerwinski,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If cleaning the rollers did not resolve the issue, there could be other potential causes for the black area on one side of the page when scanning or printing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check the Scanner Glass and Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):
- Ensure that there is no debris, smudges, or marks on the scanner glass or the ADF glass. Clean both surfaces thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
Inspect the Printer's Interior:
- Open the printer cover and inspect the interior for any obstructions, loose toner, or debris that may be causing the issue. Remove any debris carefully.
Check the Toner or Ink Cartridges:
- Verify that the toner or ink cartridges are properly installed and are not leaking or damaged. If a cartridge is leaking or damaged, replace it with a new one.
Run Printer Maintenance Tools:
- Most printers, including the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, have built-in maintenance tools accessible through the printer's control panel or the accompanying software on your computer. Run any available maintenance tasks, such as printhead cleaning or alignment.
Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:
- Make sure your printer's firmware and drivers are up-to-date. Visit HP's official website and download the latest firmware and drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer model.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Sometimes, resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve various issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue with the black area on one side of the page when scanning or printing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
