HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw

Hi all, I had to reinstall my printer recently in macOSX Sonoma 14.2.1  using the HP printer IP address. The driver is version 10.4 Generic PostScript Printer.  Prior to re-install, Wireless printing continued to go to "sleep" and required a power cycle every time to print again...annoying so installed using IP address to find printer.

Now, the print in "black & white only" does not appear in the print preview pane, can't find anywhere on the IP address printer page when accessed through Safari by typing into URL, on the printer menu physically and the functionality to change or alter these settings anywhere!??

Can anyone suggest a work around or solution please? All I want to do is print in black and white as the default and change when color printing is needed. Why is this so difficult?  Thank you!!

Hi @H3R,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with print settings.

First, we need to see if this printer is compatible with Mac OS, Sonoma 14.2.1.

Install HP Easy Start. HP Easy Start is the new way to set up your HP printer and prepare your Mac for printing. HP Easy Start will locate and install the latest software for your printer and then guide you through printer setup.

You may also refer to this document for printer settings.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
