Hp8028 All-in-one prints only blank pages in the PRINT and COPY modes (the 2 I tested). It did print a very light copy preceding this attempt. The ink levels show about an 1/8th remaining for the magenta, cyan and yellow but no black for the XL. I would assume that the printer would use up the remaining ink no matter how light it prints. Instead it delivers a totally blank sheet as if the spigots were turned off to not release any ink. Like the software is to blame; it wants to print a blank.
BTW, HP, I could not find a "serial number" anywhere on the printer. There is the tiniest on the back with an FPN of which I tried to use to include in my registering. Nowhere is a serial number found.

Hi @Engineer26,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a few issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot the blank page printing issue.
Check and Replace Ink Cartridges
- Replace Empty Cartridges: Since you mentioned no black ink and low levels in other colors, replace the empty or low cartridges. Even if the printer shows some ink, if the cartridges are empty or too low, it can cause blank pages.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and reinstall to make sure they are seated correctly.
Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- Go to the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app and find the printhead cleaning option. This can help if the issue is due to clogged nozzles.
Run Printer Diagnostics
- Use the printer's built-in diagnostics or the HP Smart app to check for issues and run any recommended troubleshooting steps.
Check Printer Settings
- Make sure the printer is set to print in the correct mode and that there are no settings selected that could cause it to print blank pages.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Ensure the printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes updates can resolve bugs related to printing issues.
Verify No Software Issues
- Test printing from different devices or applications to see if the problem persists. If it does, it’s likely a hardware issue. If not, it could be related to the specific software or drivers.
Locate the Serial Number
- Usually on the Printer: The serial number is often on a sticker located on the back or bottom of the printer. It might be small or obscured, so you may need to look closely.
- Inside the Printer: Sometimes it's found inside the printer's door or panel where the cartridges are located.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
