Hi @Ceil8600,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer isn't accepting the yellow ink cartridge, try these steps.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure the cartridge is the correct model for your printer and that it's compatible.
- Inspect Cartridge and Slot: Remove the yellow ink cartridge and check for any protective tape or packaging that might still be on it. Also, inspect the cartridge and printer slot for any obstructions or damage.
- Clean Contacts: Gently clean the metal contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Let them dry completely before reinserting.
- Reinstall Cartridge: Carefully reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer, as updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
- Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, test with a new or known-good yellow cartridge to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
