I am getting weird print results recently and tried all resets and print head cleaning and alignments.

>> half the time on printing documents  i get some missed pages , only half pages,  cut off formatting and many blank pages with black streaks at edges

>> I tried pdf and word. Same

>> and sometimes it's ok

Any ideas ?

@mikeM2005, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP 8720!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing intermittent printing issues such as missed pages, cut-off formatting, blank pages, and black streaks at the edges with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720, there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issues.

1. Check for Paper Quality and Types

Issues like black streaks and blank pages can sometimes be caused by improper paper quality. Ensure you are using high-quality paper that matches the specifications in the printer's guide.

2. Inspect and Clean Printer Components

It's crucial to inspect and clean various parts of your printer to ensure there are no debris or contamination:

  • Printhead Cleaning: Perform a thorough cleaning of the printhead, ensuring there is no ink build-up or blockage.
  • Paper Path Cleaning: Check the paper path for any debris or dust that might be causing the streaks or feeding issues.

3. Update Firmware and Drivers

Outdated firmware or drivers might cause erratic printing behavior. Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date by downloading the latest version from HP's official website.

4. Address Software and Settings

Sometimes, incorrect settings or software issues can lead to print problems:

  • Check Print Settings: Ensure your print settings are correctly configured for the type of document you are printing.
  • Print Quality Settings: Adjust print quality settings to 'Normal' or 'Best' to improve print performance.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
