HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer

HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series - A couple years ago I was on a subscription program. There was a firmware error that forced me to get off of the subscription plan. Since then, I have not gotten back on the subscription plan. Today, I put in a cartridge that was not an HP cartridge and it is not allowing me to print now.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 printer is experiencing issues related to cartridge authentication, which can happen due to various reasons such as firmware updates designed to block third-party cartridges. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue.

 

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, newer firmware can resolve compatibility issues.
  • Rollback Firmware: If the issue started after a firmware update, you might need to roll back to a previous version. This can be more complex and might require assistance from HP support or accessing specific firmware versions from online communities.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Cartridge Reinstallation

  • Remove the non-HP cartridge.
  • Clean the contacts on the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the cartridge and ensure it is properly seated.

Disable Cartridge Protection

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
  • Navigate to Printer Maintenance or Advanced Settings.
  • Look for an option related to Cartridge Protection and disable it if it is enabled.

Use an HP Cartridge

If the above steps do not work, consider using an HP cartridge temporarily to see if the printer will accept it. This can help determine if the issue is with the non-HP cartridge specifically.

Printer Reset
