HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w

When I print something I am getting lines in the print. I used the HP 143A Black Original Neverstop Toner Reload Kit that I am supposed to use. Why is this happening when it didn't before. Thanks for your help.

@diane203, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check the Toner Reload Kit Installation:

Make sure the toner reload kit was properly installed:

  • Shake the Toner Reload Kit: Shake the kit for at least ten seconds to loosen the toner before installation.
  • Correct Placement: Ensure that the Toner Reload Kit was correctly inserted into the reload port and rotated properly.
  • Plunger Operation: Push the plunger down completely until it clicks. If it doesn't go down all the way, pull it up and push it again.

2. Clean the Printer:

Dust and debris can affect print quality. Follow these steps to clean your printer:

  • Ensure the printer is completely turned off and unplugged.
  • Lift the scanner and open the reload port cover carefully.
  • Gently use canned air to remove any dust from inside the printer.
  • Use a microfiber cloth to clean any visible dirt or toner residue. Be cautious to avoid damaging sensitive components.

3. Check the Imaging Drum:

The imaging drum might need cleaning or replacement. Specifically inspect it for damage or excessive toner build-up:

  • Look for scratches, marks, or debris on the imaging drum.
  • If the drum is worn out or damaged, replace it according to the guidelines provided in the user manual.

4. Toner Redistribution:

It might help to redistribute the toner within the cartridge:

  • Remove the toner cartridge and gently shake it back and forth to redistribute the toner.
  • Reinstall the toner cartridge properly.

5. Run Diagnostic Tools:

Utilize built-in diagnostic tools in the printer’s software to help identify and fix print quality issues:

  • Access this tool via the HP Smart app.

Thank you for responding. I did one reload kit when the printer had +1 on it. I did all the instructions which is what you said also. Then the lines on my prints started showing up. I used the app to diagnose and fix. It fixed one thing and gave one error which said the authenticity of at least one cartridge could not be determined. I used the HP reload kit and I didn't have a problem the first time I had to reload a while back. I didn't think I could take that back out of the printer once it is loaded. Is that what you are telling me to do? I also didn't know I could clean anything on this printer. I would appreciate your help. Thank you

@diane203, thank you for the response

Reinstall the Toner

Turn off and unplug the printer.

Remove the toner cartridge and shake it gently for 10–15 seconds.

Reinstall the toner properly and make sure it's secure.

Fix the Authenticity Error

Check the chip on the toner for dust or damage.

Turn the printer off for a minute and turn it back on to clear the error.

If the error keeps showing, contact HP support to check the cartridge's authenticity.

Clean the Printer

Turn off and unplug the printer.

Use canned air to blow out dust inside the printer, especially around the toner area.

Wipe the inside with a microfiber cloth to remove toner residue.

Inspect the Imaging Drum

Look at the imaging drum for any scratches, dirt, or damage.

Clean it gently with a microfiber cloth if it’s dirty.

If it’s scratched or damaged, you might need to replace it.

Test Print Again

Print a test page to see if the lines are gone.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for responding again. I don't know if I'm just not understanding or you are talking about a different printer. There is no cartridge, this printer uses a reload kit. Doesn't that just all empty into the printer when I reload it? I don't believe I can take anything back out. Where is there an imaging drum to check. Also, I can't find a number to call to contact HP. Do you have a link or can you tell me where to find instructions for this? Thank you
