@grumpyami, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Ink Cartridge Compatibility Issue with HP DeskJet 2810e All-in-One Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing issues with your HP DeskJet 2810e All-in-One printer not recognizing compatible (non-HP) ink cartridges, it is important to keep in mind that HP printers are designed to work optimally with original HP ink cartridges. Non-HP ink cartridges may not always be recognized by the printer, leading to errors and functionality issues.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Use Original HP Ink Cartridges:

  • HP recommends using original HP ink cartridges for the best printing results and to avoid compatibility issues.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed and the electrical contacts are clean. Improper installation or dirty contacts can cause the printer to not recognize the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a minute, then reconnect and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes updating the firmware can add support for newer cartridges or resolve recognition issues.

Uninstall and Reinstall Software:

  • If the printer software was installed incorrectly, uninstall it and reinstall the software. Ensure you do not connect the USB cable until prompted during the installation process.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
