@MIC681, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Vertical lines on copies can be caused by various issues related to the printer's cartridge or printhead. Let's follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Check the Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new cartridge is properly installed.
  • Verify that it is seated correctly and that there are no obstructions or debris.

Laser Path Blockage:

  • Vertical lines on copies can be caused by a blockage in the laser path. This can happen due to lint, toner particles, or other contamination on the laser-scanner glass.
  • To fix this, remove the affected toner cartridge and reinstall it to clean the scanner glass.

Print Diagnostic Image:

  • Perform a Print Diagnostic Image test to check the printhead's performance and identify any clogging or alignment problems.

Clean the Printhead:

  • If vertical lines persist, follow the steps to clean the printhead using the front panel, Embedded Web Server, or HP Utility.
  • Perform all three levels of cleaning if necessary.

Alignment Issues:

  • Misaligned printheads can cause lines or streaks. Run a printhead alignment process from the front panel or Embedded Web Server to ensure precise alignment.

Encoder Strip Cleaning:

  • Clean the encoder strip by following the procedure:
    • Use a damp cloth to clean the strip carefully to remove ink residue.
