I bought 107A laser jet printer with 106 A toner. Now I bought 107A toner to replace the old toner which is 106A. However, it is saying it is not compatible. Is there anyways which I can solve this problem?

Hi @BiniM,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're dealing with a compatibility issue between the toner cartridges and your printer model. The HP 107A printer uses 107A toner, but you mentioned that it came with a 106A cartridge. These two cartridges are part of different toner series and are not interchangeable. Specifically.

  • 106A is designed for use in printers like the HP LaserJet MFP M148 and other models in the 100-series.
  • 107A toner is designed for the HP LaserJet 107 and other compatible printers in that series.

Since you already bought the 107A toner, it won't work with the 106A cartridge that's currently installed, which is why the printer is rejecting it. Here are a few possible solutions:

  • Double-check printer compatibility: Make sure that the printer model you purchased is compatible with the 107A toner. If your printer is specifically designed for 106A toner, you will need to use that model to avoid compatibility issues.
  • Update printer firmware: Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve compatibility issues. Check HP's website for any firmware updates for your printer and follow the instructions for updating it.
  • Exchange the toner: If your printer is indeed compatible with only the 106A cartridge, you may need to return the 107A toner and purchase another 106A cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
