HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

My remanufactured cartridges always used to work. Now these new ones don’t.  How can I get them to work?

Hi @MaryAnnYank,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure the remanufactured cartridges are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.

Restart Your Printer:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Reinsert Cartridges:

  • Remove the problematic cartridges and reinsert them one by one. Ensure they are seated correctly.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Sometimes, dirty contacts can cause recognition issues. Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

Reset the Printer:

Restore the printer to its default settings; this might help in resolving software-related issues.

Refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Although you prefer remanufactured cartridges, using genuine HP cartridges can help you verify if the issue lies with the cartridges or the printer.

Disable Cartridge Protection:

  • Some HP printers have a feature called "Cartridge Protection." Disabling this feature sometimes allows remanufactured or third-party cartridges to work.
  • From the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Cartridge Settings.
  • Select Cartridge Protection > Disable.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
