Hi @nonamesleft3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for contacting us. I understand your HP DeskJet 3720 All-in-One Printer is not printing with black ink — let’s get this resolved.

Here are a few steps to try:

Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Check Ink Levels
Make sure the black cartridge is not empty or low on ink.
  2. Clean the Printhead
    • On the printer, go to the Setup or Tools menu.
    • Select Clean Printhead (you may need to do this 2–3 times).
  3. Align the Printer
After cleaning, use the Align Printer function from the same Tools menu.
  4. Use Genuine HP Cartridges
Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause ink flow issues.

🔁 Still Not Working?

  • Try a Cartridge Reset:
    • Remove the black cartridge while the printer is on.
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 1 minute.
    • Reinsert the cartridge and power the printer back on.

If the issue continues after trying the steps above, please let us know:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
