Hi @dania12,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your computer shows that your printer is offline and you can't print, it's usually due to connectivity issues or incorrect printer settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Check Printer Power and Connectivity:

  • Ensure Printer is On: Make sure your printer is powered on and ready.
  • Check Connections: For wired printers, verify that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. For network printers, ensure the printer is connected to the network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

2. Set Printer Online:

  • Windows:
    1. Open Devices and Printers: Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners in newer versions of Windows).
    2. Right-Click Printer: Find your printer in the list, right-click on it, and select See what's printing.
    3. Printer Menu: In the print queue window, click on Printer in the menu bar and uncheck Use Printer Offline if it is checked.
  • macOS:
    1. Open Printers & Scanners: Go to System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select Printer: Select your printer from the list and check its status. If it’s offline, try removing and re-adding the printer.

3. Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Power Cycle Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Computer: Restart your computer to refresh the connection.

4. Check Printer and Network Settings:

  • Network Printers: Ensure the printer is connected to the correct network. Check the printer’s network settings on the printer’s display or via its web interface.
  • Print Server Issues: If using a print server, verify that it is functioning correctly and connected to the network.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Update Drivers: Go to the printer HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the printer from your computer via Devices and Printers, then reinstall it using the updated drivers.

6. Check Printer Queue:

  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause issues. Go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, select See what's printing, and cancel any stuck print jobs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
