I've been trying for about a week and I just cant seem to figure out what's wrong with my printer. I've tried to go into the printer settings to change the preference form Greyscale to Color under Device Settings but that's not an option I have.
I initially tried doing it wireless but I eventually got a cable to connect it to my computer directly thinking that would've solved the issue. I could really use some help because this is getting frustrating.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
This printer cannot print in color.
The printer only has a black cartridge, see here: Product Specifications -Print cartridges.

This printer cannot print in color.
