I have the HP ENVY Photo 7155 and there is a new printer cartridge in there but it won’t accept it. Gives the error message  “incompatible “ this thing has seriously never worked and is brand new. HP DO BETTER. The internet is filled with people having the same problem. Does this printer work for anybody?

Hi @HelenaCat

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when a new ink cartridge is not recognized by your printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the "incompatible" error on your HP ENVY Photo 7155:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that the cartridge you purchased is compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 7155. Check the packaging or HP's website for compatible cartridge numbers.

2. Remove Protective Strips

  • Double-check that you have removed all protective tape and plastic strips from the cartridge. Sometimes there are multiple strips that need to be removed.

3. Reinsert the Cartridge

  1. Power off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the cartridge access door.
  3. Remove the cartridge and inspect it for any visible damage.
  4. Reinsert the cartridge firmly, making sure it clicks into place.
  5. Plug the printer back in and power it on.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Sometimes, resetting the printer can help:
    1. With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
    3. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date:
    1. Go to the HP Support website.
    2. Search for your printer model and check for any available firmware updates.

6. Check for Error Messages

  • After reinserting the cartridge and resetting, check if the printer displays any additional error messages or codes. These can help identify the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
