I had this 5660 at home and just moved it to my office. At home I had auto shipments of ink but at my office I have other printers of this model. The one that I moved is telling me "cartridges are missing"? Does this have something to do with the auto ink shipments at home?

Hi @swoolmss,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the issue you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet 5660 printer might be related to the printer’s settings or possibly an issue with the cartridges or their recognition after the move. Here’s how you can address the “cartridges are missing” error:
**1. Check Cartridge Installation
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the cartridge access door and ensure that the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
- Remove the cartridges, check for any protective tape or packaging that might still be on them, and then reinsert them securely.
- Close the cartridge access door and plug the printer back in.
**2. Inspect Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure that you are using cartridges that are compatible with the HP OfficeJet 5660. Sometimes cartridges from another model or brand may not be recognized.
- If you’re using cartridges from a different printer, they might not be compatible with the 5660.
**3. Reset the Printer
- Perform a basic reset of the printer to clear any potential software glitches.
- To reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
**4. Check HP Instant Ink Settings
- If your printer was previously enrolled in HP Instant Ink and now shows “cartridges are missing,” it’s possible that the printer is trying to communicate with the previous settings.
- Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account and check if there are any pending actions or updates needed.
- If you no longer wish to use HP Instant Ink, make sure to remove or update the service settings in the HP Smart app.
**5. Update Printer Firmware
- Sometimes, updating the printer’s firmware can resolve compatibility issues or errors.
- Go to the HP Support website and check for firmware updates for your OfficeJet 5660. Follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.
**6. Perform a Printer Self-Test
- Most HP printers have a built-in self-test feature that can help diagnose and resolve issues.
- Check the printer’s menu or HP Smart app for options related to self-test or diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
