Hi @russel42

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Let's go through some common steps to try and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status

  • Power Cycle: Sometimes, simply turning the printer off and on again can resolve minor issues.
  • Wireless Connection: Ensure the printer is still connected to your Wi-Fi network. You can print a Wireless Test Report:
    • On the printer’s control panel, press Wireless > Settings > Print Network Configuration Page (or similar).
    • Check that the printer is connected to the correct network.

2. Check Print Queue

  • Clear Pending Jobs: Sometimes, a stuck job can prevent other print tasks from completing.
    • Open the Print Queue on your computer (go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select See what's printing).
    • Cancel any pending or stalled print jobs.

3. Restart Your Devices

  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart Computer: Restart your computer to clear any temporary glitches or issues.

4. Check Ink Levels and Paper

  • Ink Cartridges: Make sure the ink cartridges are installed properly and have enough ink.
  • Paper Tray: Ensure the paper tray is loaded with paper, and that the paper is not jammed or stuck.

5. Ensure Printer is Set as Default

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and check if your HP OfficeJet Pro 8625 is set as the default printer.
  • If not, right-click on the printer and select Set as Default Printer.

6. Run the Printer Troubleshooter (Windows)

  • Windows Troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix issues automatically.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer and select Run the troubleshooter.

7. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Update or reinstall drivers: Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues.
    • Visit the HP Support Website to download the latest driver for your OfficeJet Pro 8625.
    • Alternatively, you can go to Device Manager on your computer, right-click your printer under Printers, and select Uninstall device. Then reinstall the printer by reconnecting it via Wi-Fi or USB.

8. Check Wireless Connection

  • If the printer is wireless, ensure it's still connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
    • You can reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard (found under Wireless > Settings > Network Setup).

9. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Make sure the printer’s firmware is up to date.
    • You can check for firmware updates by going to the Printer’s Control Panel > Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
    • If you’re using the HP Smart app, it may prompt you to install any available updates.

10. Test with a Different Device

  • Try printing from a different device (e.g., another computer or a mobile device) to see if the issue is specific to one device.

11. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor is a tool designed to diagnose and fix printing issues.
    • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website and follow the steps to troubleshoot.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
