I bought a new Envy Photo 6255 all in one printer that was an open box. It does not have the setup cartridges. I have new HP 64 cartridges but can not get it to setup.

Hi @GEWilliams,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For your HP Envy Photo 6255, setup cartridges are usually required for the initial setup process. However, you can try the following steps to bypass the need for setup cartridges and use your new HP 64 cartridges.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Setup.
- Navigate to Printer Maintenance or Service.
- Select Restore or Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset.
Install the New HP 64 Cartridges:
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Insert the new HP 64 cartridges into their respective slots (black in the black slot, color in the color slot).
- Close the cartridge access door.
Run the Printer Setup Wizard:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Setup.
- Select Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Select Align Printer or Align Printhead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.
Update the Printer Firmware:
- Ensure the printer is connected to your network.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Setup.
- Select Printer Maintenance or Service.
- Select Update the Printer or Printer Updates.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
