The ink cartridges have popped out of there normal seat and now the carrage will not move because they are hitting the housing.  When you try to seat them back, the do not lock in place.

HI @JOlla5665,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the ink cartridges in your HP printer have become dislodged from their normal position, causing them to interfere with the carriage movement. This issue can be frustrating but here are some general steps you can take to try and resolve it. Please keep in mind that the exact steps might vary slightly depending on the specific model of your HP printer:

Turn Off the Printer: Power off the printer to avoid any potential damage. Unplug it from the power source as well to ensure safety.

Open the Printer Access Door: Open the door or lid that gives you access to the ink cartridges. This is usually located above or in front of the carriage.

Reposition the Cartridges: Carefully try to move the carriage to a position where you can access the dislodged cartridges more easily. If the carriage is completely stuck, do not force it. Instead, look for any visible obstructions.

Remove the Ink Cartridges: Gently remove the ink cartridges from the carriage. It might be helpful to consult your printer’s manual for the recommended method of removal to avoid damaging the cartridges or the printer.

Check for Obstructions: With the cartridges removed, check the carriage and the cartridge seats for any obstructions, debris, or damage. Clean any debris you find with a soft, dry cloth. Look for any parts that seem damaged or out of place.

Reinsert the Ink Cartridges: Reinsert the cartridges into their respective slots. Make sure they are correctly oriented and firmly seated into place. You should hear a click or feel them lock into position if inserted correctly.

Close the Printer Access Door: Once all cartridges are properly in place, close the access door.

Power On the Printer: Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on. Wait for the printer to initialize.

Perform a Test Print: Once the printer is back on and has gone through its startup routine, try performing a test print to ensure everything is working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
