Hi @lolli07,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 5200 printer is not printing in black despite manual cleaning of cartridges, printer cleaning, setting to best quality, and system updates, you may want to try the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your black ink cartridge has sufficient ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software or control panel.
  • Align the Cartridges: Many printers have an alignment process to ensure proper print quality. Check your printer manual on how to align cartridges. This is often done through the printer software on your computer.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet 5200 model.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic Tools: Most printers come with built-in diagnostic tools. Use the printer software on your computer to run a print-quality diagnostic or cleaning cycle. This may help resolve any issues with the print heads.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Ensure that there are no conflicts between the printer software and other programs on your computer. Sometimes, third-party applications can interfere with the printing process.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor glitches.
  • Check Print Settings: Ensure that the print settings on your computer are configured correctly. Sometimes, the settings may be set to grayscale or draft mode, which can affect the print quality.
  • Print a Test Page: Use the printer's control panel to print a test page. This can help you determine if the issue is with the computer or the printer.
  • Inspect the Cartridge: Check the black ink cartridge for any visible issues such as clogs or leaks. If you find any problems, you may need to replace the cartridge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
