I have printed less than 100 pages and no pictures.  Yet says black cartridge is empty. I replace then says blue and yellow are empty. replace then then says cyan is empty.  Seems liek if just wants you to replace all the cartridges once a year regardless of actual use.  and then keep having me replace each one. is crazy! I have never printed a picture and the few pages I have printed are black and white for 99% of what I print.  my less them 100 pages.

Hi @deed15,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-In-One Printer, especially in terms of cartridge messages and replacements, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

Check Cartridge Levels:

  • Make sure that the cartridges you have installed are not expired.
  • Check the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or through the printer's control panel to ensure that there is ink in the cartridges.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridges or inside the printer can accumulate dust or ink residue. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth to ensure good connectivity.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve issues with false low-ink warnings.

Update Firmware/Software:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up-to-date. Manufacturers often release updates that address bugs and improve overall performance.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP cartridges or refilled cartridges may not work properly and can lead to inaccurate ink level readings.

It's also worth noting that inkjet printers, in general, may perform periodic maintenance cycles that use small amounts of ink. However, if you're consistently experiencing rapid depletion of ink cartridges, it could be a malfunction or miscommunication between the printer and the cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
