Hi @efinn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps

Stop Any Ongoing Print Job:

  • Immediately stop any print job in progress to prevent the cyan ink from being used.

Remove the Incorrect Ink:

  • Carefully remove the cyan ink bottle from the black ink tank.
  • Depending on the level of ink contamination, you may need to manually empty the black ink tank. This can be done using a syringe or another appropriate tool to withdraw the ink.

Clean the Ink Tank:

  • Rinse the black ink tank with distilled water to remove any cyan ink residue. This is important to avoid further contamination and ensure the printer can properly read the correct ink levels.
  • Allow the tank to dry completely before refilling with the correct black ink bottle.

Refill With Correct Ink:

  • Once the black ink tank is clean and dry, refill it with the correct black ink bottle.
  • Make sure to follow the proper refilling procedure as outlined in your printer's user manual.

Run Printhead Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • After correcting the ink mixture, run the printer's printhead cleaning utility to clear any residual cyan ink from the printhead meant for black ink. This ensures optimal print quality.

Check Ink Levels:

  • After cleaning and refilling, check the ink levels to ensure they are correctly detected. This can typically be done from the printer's control panel or via the HP Smart app.

Test Print:

  • Perform a test print to ensure the printer now functions correctly with the proper ink type and color.

I hope this helps.
