I get a "print carriage cannot move" message. Yet, there is no paper stuck. Went through various troubleshooting to include powering off, pulling power cord out and resetting the printer to no avail. Any thoughts?

Hi @Herby52,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the "print carriage cannot move" message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer could be caused by several factors besides a paper jam.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve the issue:
1. Check for Obstructions
- Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
- With the printer powered on, observe if the print carriage tries to move. If it does, listen for any unusual noises.
- Carefully check for any small pieces of paper, clips, or other objects that might be obstructing the carriage’s path. Even a small obstruction can cause this error.
- Gently move the carriage left and right to ensure it moves freely. Do not force it if it is stuck.
2. Inspect the Carriage Path
- Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris in the carriage path.
- If you see any, carefully remove them with tweezers or your fingers.
3. Reset the Printer Again
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still powered on.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn the printer on.
4. Reinstall Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove each ink cartridge.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges one by one, making sure each clicks into place securely.
5. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix bugs or issues that may cause the printer to malfunction.
- You can check for updates via the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.
6. Inspect the Printer Rollers
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the paper tray and inspect the rollers inside the printer.
- Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to remove any dirt or debris.
7. Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Disconnect any other cables (USB, Ethernet, etc.).
- Wait for at least 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
