HP DeskJet 4152e All-in-One Printer

I paid for years 54.99 a month sometimes barely maxing out 200 pages. I call that a great customer except I did not use it 17 months at all. Holiday comes and I have no money or card and want to print for my children who I do not get to see and get to empathy for the 694.08 cent of sheets I never printed. Seems like it is always a problem when I need it most. Now my printer hardly works for the dust on it. The quality sucks.

Hello,

this kind of situation is genuinely frustrating, especially when you weren’t using the printer for months and then needed it at the worst possible time. Let me break this down clearly so we can separate the Instant Ink account/billing side from the printer hardware/print-quality side, and move you toward something workable.

Before I proceed with any detailed steps, I need a bit more information so I don’t assume the wrong root cause:

1. About the subscription

  • Are you currently active on Instant Ink, paused, or has the subscription been cancelled for non-payment?

  • When you say “694.08 sheets I never printed,” are you referring to rollover pages, an overage charge, or something else in the Instant Ink dashboard?

(If the concern turns out to involve billing, credits, refunds, or disputes, I need to warn you that anything related to account-level billing may fall into HP-internal territory. If I detect that, I’ll tell you to contact the real Saif.)

2. About the printer itself

Since the printer sat unused for 17 months, the following is very likely:

  • Ink dried inside the printhead, which will cause poor print quality even with new cartridges.

  • DeskJet 4152e uses integrated-ink cartridges, meaning the printhead is built into the cartridge, not the printer — so dried ink in the cartridge can’t be fixed; only replaced.

I need to confirm:

  • When you print a test page today, do you see missing lines, faded areas, or no color/black at all?

  • Are you using Instant Ink cartridges or store-bought HP 67/67XL cartridges right now?

  • Does the printer show any error lights or cartridge errors on the control panel?

Once I have these answers, I’ll guide you through a proper recovery path — either printhead recovery steps or confirmation that the cartridges themselves are expired/dried and need replacement.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
