I purchased my own ink from Walmart but now it's saying I can't use my printer without being enrolled in InstaInk. I didn't want to subscribe to InstaInk because I don't use my printer enough to really need it. Is there a workaround so I can use the ink I already purchased?

Hi @Pooh52,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is showing an error or restriction because you're not enrolled in HP Instant Ink, here are a few steps you can try to use the ink cartridges you purchased.
- Ignore the Message: Sometimes, printers will display warnings or messages about not being enrolled in HP Instant Ink but still allow you to continue using non-Instant Ink cartridges. Try dismissing or ignoring the message and proceed with printing.
- Reset the Printer: Resetting your printer to its factory settings might clear any software restrictions that are causing the message to appear. This process can vary by model, so consult your printer's manual or HP's support website for specific instructions on how to reset your printer.
- Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. HP occasionally releases updates that affect cartridge recognition and compatibility. Go to your printer's settings menu (accessible through the control panel or web interface) and check for updates.
By following these steps, you should be able to use the ink cartridges you purchased without needing to enroll in HP Instant Ink if you prefer not to subscribe to the service
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
