I set up the printer, and it asks me for the official ink cartridge I received, and I threw it away. I have a cartridge that I bought at another store.

@2Netanel, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Deskjet 2800!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your HP Deskjet 2800 printer requires the use of official HP ink cartridges to ensure optimal performance and to enable the initialization of the ink system. If you've thrown away the official cartridge, you might face issues with the printer setup and functionality.

If you bought a cartridge at another store, ensure it is a genuine HP cartridge compatible with your HP Deskjet 2800 printer. Using non-HP cartridges might result in reduced print quality and can potentially damage the printer.

Key Steps:

  1. Verify Compatibility: Check if the cartridge you purchased is specifically labeled as compatible with your HP Deskjet 2800.
  2. Installation: Following the front panel instructions to correctly install the cartridge.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
