Hello,

I have been having quality issues with the instant ink cartridges as well as delivery issues, even after calling in.  I have a project I need to finish and bad cartridges . . . just when I really need them to work.

I want to discontinue instant ink and just buy cartridges for my printer when I need them.

I can see I can discontinue the plan on my account online.  If I do this, will I have to do anything else?  I am aware I need to go and buy regular cartridges.  I want to know if there is anything I need to change in settings or reload before I do this.

At this point, I may just give up and buy a Canon.

Thanks for the response.  HP promised ink expedited and didn't expedite anything so I've had to find another solution.  I did call in for help and cleaned the print head several times.  They said the cartridges were (or one of the cartridges was) bad. I use inkjet paper and was using inkjet photo paper for the project.  In the short term, my immediate problem is solved.  Long term, I will be researching another printer.  There are so many steps to do any trouble-shooting with this and I have no patience for it anymore.  I am still dealing with a longstanding problem of each page scanning in as its own file (I changed nothing--it just decide that was how it wanted to roll one day).  Again--had to find an alternate solution for this outside of my printer (yes, I called in and wrote in and solutions given did not work).  Thanks again for the help.  I don't know that this printer would be one I could donate as  I believe it is at the three year mark and I have put a lot of personal information on it.  I need to know how to reset everything so the info can't be taken.  Its on the list.  Thanks again!

Welcome to the HP English Community --

Edit / Update

I recently retired an OfficeJet Pro 9025 - solid performance for five years.

Caveat:

The 9025 was always Princess-level fussy about being kept clean.

Your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer   might also be fussy about paper type(s), paper quality, and being kept clean.

Suggested

Before you cancel, partly because you are not paying for ink at the moment --

IF you have not already done so,

Run the printer through a thorough cleaning, both automatic and manual cleaning of the rollers.

Instant Ink and HP genuine ink is the same ink - subscription ink is packaged to work with the ink service.

If the printer is suffering from print quality, it might simply be dirty or it might believe it is dirty.

Clean the printer --

Yes, you can certainly cancel.

Yes, you do have to remove all the subscription cartridges from the printer, purchase and install HP genuine ink.

Dragon Opinion:  The 9025e is a nice printer -- should you decide to get rid of it, do verify that any replacement actually includes all the features you like, want, or need.  Also, please do complete the cancellation process so you can donate that exceptional printer to a worthy cause.

You are welcome.

I have no opinion about Instant Ink -- I've never subscribed.

--------------------------------------------------------

I do get it - printers are little machines that require too many steps.

True - the more sophisticated printers are a lot less like phones and more like tiny cars -- there are a lot of moving parts, there are more settings to manage, and everything has to be "just so".

Not everyone has the patience - you are certainly not alone in feeling like it is too much work when things go wrong.

All done?

Can't stand it?

Scroll down to "Done and Gone"

The steps are the same for donate and recycle.

-------------------- --------------------

2-sided Scan

The printer is not genuinely aware of what it is printing or scanning.

Changes are typically made by the user, though apparently it is not always the case.

Takes a minute to check --

If you have the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed,

HP Scan - Menu - Save as PDF - More > Destination > File Type

Clear / Uncheck box "Separate File for each scanned page"

9025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_99025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_9

-------------------- --------------------

Clean and Reset

It is possible the printer needs a standard reset or deep reset to kick free odd (unintended) changes to the scanning setup or other anomalies not caused by Windows Updates or other changes to the printer's setup.

Deep reset requires that you get into parts of the maintenance menu for which I am not allowed or provide guidance.

The process is not difficult but does include a certain level of risk should anything go wrong -- Agents are equipped to provide the steps should it become necessary.  Ask should you be interested.

-------------------- --------------------

Done and Gone

Do this after all else is done and you are ready to recycle or donate the printer.

A three year old printer of this caliber is perhaps worth donating - true, donating is more work to prep it physically.

Recycle is a decent option --

Recycle requires less physical care to make sure you do not damage the printer when moving it.
