Could you please confirm the model number of your printer?  Is it the HP Officejet 6958?  

 

Have you tried third-party cartridges and received an error message?  If so, what is the message?

 

If your printer is the HP Officejet 6958 likely you have an issue with a firmware update for "dynamic security", see the post here.  If your printer was built before December 2016 it may be possible to undo the firmware update for dynamic security,
