Hi @Gggwp,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Deskjet 2777 printer indicating incompatible ink cartridges. This can be a frustrating problem, but there are several steps you can try to resolve it.

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using the correct ink cartridges for your printer model. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's website to confirm the compatible cartridge numbers.
  • Remove and Reinstall Cartridges: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the printer cover and carefully remove the ink cartridges. Make sure there is no plastic or tape left on the cartridges. Reinstall them firmly and ensure they are properly seated.
  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the ink cartridges or inside the printer can get dirty or covered with ink residue. Gently wipe the gold-colored electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab moistened with distilled water. Be sure to let them dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: HP occasionally releases firmware updates for their printers that may include compatibility fixes. Visit the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model. Follow the instructions to update the firmware if necessary.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a reset on your printer to clear any temporary issues. To do this, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer, wait for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
