Hello. I have HP Officejet Pro 8710. I've installed new set of ink cartridges but the printer screen and my HP app on my computer show inaccurate ink level. In my printer status report, the "first installation date" of cartridges shows a date that is earlier than the date I actually installed my cartridges. I changed my printhead prior installing the new cartridges.
How can I fix this inaccurate ink level issue? Thanks.

Hi @fashionsource,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing inaccurate ink levels on your HP Officejet Pro 8710 after installing new cartridges and changing the printhead, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.
Ensure Proper Installation: Double-check that the new cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are seated properly.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Go to the HP support website and download any available firmware updates for your model.
Run Printer Diagnostic Tools:
- Access the printer's control panel and navigate to the setup menu.
- Look for a diagnostic or troubleshooting option and run the necessary tests.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
Print a Test Page:
- After performing the above steps, print a test page to check if the issue persists.
- Go to the printer settings on your computer or the printer's control panel and select the option to print a test page.
Reset Ink Levels:
- Sometimes, the printer may need to be reset to correctly read the new ink levels.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
