I have an HP OfficeJet 8022e All-in-One printer and I use 910XL Black ink. How do I change the quality to use LESS ink? I am going through ink so fast. HELP!!

Welcome to the HP Community --

What you do -- and where - at least partially depends on the device (computer, tablet, phone) and the Operating System / version.

What?

Settings differ depending on the app or software you have available to adjust the print quality.

Look for settings that impact Quality and switch to Draft or Grayscale.

Sample - Windows

Create a Custom Shortcut in Printing Preferences

Start with a template on which to build your Custom Shortcut

Reminders

Not every setting can be adjusted and permanently saved as a Custom Shortcut or from job job to the next.  That means, some settings must be set / adjusted / verified each time the Shortcut is used.

This printer requires that all cartridges are installed and are function (have ink).

Custom Printing Preferences Shortcut

Start with Shortcut for General Everyday Printing

Edit / Adjust the settings, including the one in Tab Paper / Quality for Color / Grayscale / Block only

Save the settings as a New Custom Shortcut (use Save-As)

Set that Shortcut as the Default for all jobs.

General Example - Printing Preferences - Shortcut = General Everyday Printing

What else?

Certainly optional...

Scan in grayscale so you are not later tempted to print in color.

General Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan - Preset = Photo

Change Output Type to Grayscale

Note the image can also be edited after scan to adjust the Filters to black and white or grayscale

"Color" or not is one of the options in Print Options
