  • ink cartridge Failure
  • I have a deskjet 1050 printer using hp122 cartridges. I have done every reset known to man and still get an ink cartridge failure error. The same cartridge that report as failed work on other printers. even new ones are being detected as failed. Could my carriage board be fried?

Hi @BaNatie,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried multiple resets and the issue persists with both old and new cartridges, it is possible that the problem could be related to the carriage assembly or the carriage board.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot further:

  • Check Cartridge Contacts: Make sure the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer's carriage are clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and gently clean them.
  • Inspect Carriage Assembly: Look inside the printer to ensure that the carriage assembly is moving smoothly and that there are no obstructions or debris preventing it from functioning correctly.
  • Check Carriage Board Connections: If you're comfortable doing so, you can open the printer and check if the connections to the carriage board are secure. Loose or damaged connections can cause issues.
  • Test with Different Cartridges: If you have access to different cartridges (HP122), try using those to see if the issue persists.
  • Update or Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, software issues can cause hardware problems. Make sure your printer drivers are up to date or try reinstalling them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
