I bought brand new genuine cartridges and it was working fine but suddenly one day (used it after long) Black cartridge symbol is showing ink level nil and cartridge light started blinking on printer. Tried several options but nothing worked. Test prints are coming fine by using power buttons but issue remains same as still the light is blinking and not able to print.

Hi @MANISHH18,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve tried a lot of troubleshooting steps already. Here are a few more suggestions that might help resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3636.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the cartridge access door and remove the black cartridge.
- Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure there are no protective tape strips left on the cartridge.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting.
Reset Printer:
- With the printer turned on, unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or on the HP website.
Check Ink Levels in HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app and check the ink levels again. Sometimes the app can provide more insight into the issue.
Test with Another Cartridge:
- If possible, try using a different black cartridge to determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself or the printer.
Printer Diagnostic Tools:
- Some HP printers have built-in diagnostic tools that can be accessed via the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app. Run any available diagnostic tests to identify issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
