Hi @CP148,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power off the Printer:

  • Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source. This ensures safety and allows you to move the carriage manually.

Access the Ink Cartridge Area:

  • Open the front cover of the printer to access the ink cartridges.
  • Wait for any motion in the carriage to stop before proceeding.

Manually Move the Cartridge:

  • Gently try to move the carriage to the center of the printer. If it's stuck to the right, carefully push it to the left to free the cartridge. Avoid applying excessive force that could damage the printer.

Remove Obstacles:

  • Check for any obstructions inside the printer, such as paper scraps, and remove them. Sometimes, small pieces of packing material or jammed paper can block the carriage.

Remove the Ink Cartridge:

  • Once you have moved the carriage, lift the latch covering the cartridge.
  • Gently remove the black ink cartridge.

Reinsert or Replace the Cartridge:

  • If it’s necessary, inspect the cartridge for damage. Reinsert it or replace it with a new cartridge if needed.
  • Ensure the cartridge is placed correctly in its slot, with the color cartridge on the left and the black cartridge on the right.

Close the Printer:

  • Close the front access cover, ensuring it’s securely shut.

Reconnect and Power On:

  • Plug the power cord back into the power source.
  • Turn on the printer by pressing the Power button.

Test the Printer:

  • Print a test page to ensure everything is functioning properly after the cartridge adjustment.

I hope this helps.
