Ink depletion error screen stuck

HP Recommended
HP office jet Pro 8610

I replaced the black ink cartridge with a brand new HP 950XL. (Black is pretty much the only one I use) Now I can’t get a reset nor print. Screen continues to read “ink cartridges depleted“ and I cannot get that screen to go away and give me the home icon to select and figure out what’s going on. I’ve tried turning it off and on... Removing and replacing cartridges… Unplugging, and then at one point I selected soft reset and went through those motions. Now my screen will not change from “ depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing.“  Someone please help!

@ITignorant

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If you insert your old black ink, do you still get the error message?

Let us know.

Thanks 🙂

I’ve tried reinserting the old cartridge and going through all the plugging/unplugging, etc.  an earlier post from someone else about a similar problem stated that after mini hours, the printer simply reset itself. Mine has not “reset itself.“

Betty replied to my first entry, asking if I had tried re-inserting the old cartridge. I hope someone will reengage me on this! HELP!!

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the communities page for the private message.
