I am receiving an error message that the ink cartridges are not compatible with the printer. These are original cartridges that worked before. I have restarted the printer, checked for updates in the app, and it still doesn't work. What can be done?

HI @Hadarl,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you’re receiving an error about incompatible ink cartridges, here are some steps you can try:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Confirm that the cartridges are the correct model for your printer. Look for the model number on the cartridge packaging and compare it with your printer's specifications.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth. This can help improve connectivity.

3. Reinstall Cartridges

  • After cleaning, reinstall the cartridges securely, ensuring they click into place properly.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on, then check if the error persists.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Use the HP Smart app or go to the HP website to see if there are any firmware updates available for your printer that might address compatibility issues.

6. Try Another Cartridge

  • If possible, try using a different original cartridge to see if the error continues. This can help determine if the cartridge itself is defective.

7. Check for Blockages

  • Inspect the cartridge area for any obstructions or debris that might prevent proper installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
