Hi @CaptainWayne,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You can adjust or disable certain notifications and settings to reduce the alerts. Here's how you can manage it.
Adjust Notifications in the HP Smart App:
If you're using the HP Smart app:
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
- Select your printer.
- Go to Settings or Notifications (the exact path may vary depending on the app version).
- Look for options related to ink level notifications and disable them.
Turn Off Notifications on Your Phone:
If you don't find specific options in the HP Smart app, you can disable notifications for the app entirely on your phone:
- Android:
- Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart.
- Tap Notifications and turn them off.
- iPhone:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > HP Smart.
- Toggle off Allow Notifications.
Set Your Printer to Use Black Ink Only:
Configure your printer to use black ink exclusively for your print jobs:
- Open Printer Preferences or Print Settings on your device.
- Select the Grayscale or Black Ink Only option under Color Options.
- Save the settings to avoid unnecessary usage of color ink.
Bypass Ink Warnings (Printer-Specific):
Some printers allow bypassing low ink warnings:
- When the warning appears, select Continue or Ignore (if available on your printer's control panel or via the app).
- The printer should proceed with printing.
While the above options reduce interruptions, remember that most HP printers require some color ink for maintenance, even if you print in black only. If the color cartridge is entirely depleted, your printer might stop functioning until it's replaced.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
