The color is only in shades of pink and yellow. The ink bottles will not discharge into the printer tanks. Although we use the printer regularly, we have had the bottles for at least 3 years.

Hi @esp3991,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is only producing shades of pink and yellow and the ink bottles are not discharging properly, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Make sure that all ink bottles are adequately filled and that they have not expired. Ink can degrade over time, especially if bottles are old.
2. Inspect Ink Bottles and Nozzles
- Examine the ink bottles for any signs of damage or blockage. Ensure that the nozzles are clean and free from debris.
3. Perform a Print Head Cleaning
- Use the printer's maintenance utility to perform a print head cleaning cycle. This can help clear any clogs in the nozzles:
- Go to the printer settings on your computer or use the printer's control panel to initiate the cleaning process.
4. Check for Air Bubbles
- Sometimes air bubbles can form in the ink lines. If your printer allows, try to manually purge the lines to remove any air bubbles.
5. Use the Correct Ink Bottles
- Ensure that you are using the correct ink bottles for your printer model. Using incompatible ink can cause printing issues.
6. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset any temporary issues.
7. Update Printer Firmware
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP support website. Keeping your firmware up to date can resolve printing issues.
8. Replace Old Ink Bottles
- Since your ink bottles are quite old (3 years), consider replacing them with new ones. Ink can dry up or clog in the bottles over time.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
