Replaced the ink cartridges and didn't perform the final step of checking alignment.  How can I start over?

Hi @ScottVes,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

To start the alignment process for your HP Inkjet 4100 after replacing the ink cartridges, you can follow these steps:

Method 1: Using the Printer Control Panel

Load Paper:

  • Ensure that you have plain white paper loaded in the input tray.

Access Alignment Menu:

  • On the printer control panel, press the Setup button (usually represented by a wrench or gear icon).
  • Use the arrow buttons to navigate to Tools and press OK.
  • Select Align Printer and press OK.

Start Alignment:

  • The printer will print an alignment page.
  • Follow the instructions on the printed page to complete the alignment process.

Method 2: Using HP Smart App (if applicable)

If your HP Inkjet 4100 is compatible with the HP Smart app, you can also start the alignment process through the app:

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Ensure your printer is connected and selected within the app.

Access Printer Maintenance:

  • In the HP Smart app, look for the Printer Maintenance or Tools section.
  • Find and select the Align Printhead or Align Cartridges option.

Follow Instructions:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to start the alignment process.
  • The printer will print an alignment page, and you will need to follow any additional instructions provided.

Method 3: Using HP Printer Assistant (Windows)

Open HP Printer Assistant:

  • Open HP Printer Assistant from your computer. You can usually find it in the list of installed programs or by searching for it in the Windows search bar.

Access Printer Maintenance:

  • Go to the Print, Scan & Fax tab.
  • Click on Maintain Your Printer or Printer Maintenance.

Start Alignment:

  • Click on Align Printheads or Align Cartridges.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.

Additional Tips

  • Print Quality Report:
    • If you encounter issues with alignment, you can also print a print quality report from the printer’s control panel or software to diagnose and fix any print quality problems.
  • Clean Printheads:
    • If the alignment process doesn't resolve print quality issues, consider cleaning the printheads using the printer's control panel or software options.

By following these steps, you should be able to start the alignment process on your HP Inkjet 4100 printer and ensure that your prints are of the best quality.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
